SummerSlam to be 4 hours long on pay-per-view

The biggest event of the Summer on WWE’s calendar – SummerSlam – just got even bigger as WWE has decided to add an extra hour to the pay-per-view, making it 4 hours long.

The news was first announced by Sky Italia WWE broadcaster Luca Franchini who posted on Facebook that WWE informed Sky Italia about the change in time to make room for the extra hour. This will bring SummerSlam on par with WrestleMania in terms of running time as WrestleMania is the only other pay-per-view which runs for 4 hours.

With the added hour, SummerSlam will kick off at 7PM EST instead of 8PM EST live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, August 23.
