Smackdown! Live TV report for 10/31/2017

Introduction Segment: Video and Arena Promo

The regular Smackdown! opener plays and then we go live to the arena in Norfolk, Virginia! “Here Comes The Money” plays and out dances the Commissioner – Shane McMahon! He puts over Smackdown! as having “heart” and two great runners in himself and General Manager Daniel Bryan. He explains why a lot of the Smackdown! roster attacked Raw last week – because Raw has always put down Smackdown! in an “inferior” role. (True and not true, depending on the year.) Shane says that notion was more prevalent last night when Daniel was assaulted by Kane on Raw.

McMahon then names himself Captain of Smackdown’s team at Survivor Series! He then moves on to the action for tonight!

Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler make their entrances for their bout, up next!

Match #1: Two-Out-Of-Three Falls, Single – Bobby Roode VS. Dolph Ziggler

(Note: Winner is placed on Team Smackdown for Survivor Series)

They go back-and-forth with light slams and hits to start. Both try their finishers but are blocked, and then Dolph rams his shoulders into Roode’s gut in the corner. Bobby fires back with a clothesline and rams Ziggler’s head off of the turnbuckle, and then double-boots him out of the corner. He leaps from the second turnbuckle with a neckbreaker for a near-fall! He then dumps Ziggler to the floor shortly after and reverses a whip, hurling Dolph into the barrier.

Roode chops and knees Ziggler on the outside and then rolls him back into the ring, but suddenly eats a Superkick as they both got back into the ring! Dolph falls on him for the 1 – 2 – 3!

Winner of Fall #1 via Pinfall: Dolph Ziggler

It is announced that we are now tied as Bobby got a fall with a sunset-flip out of the corner!

Winner of Fall #2 via Pinfall: Bobby Roode

Roode almost gets this with a powerslam and tries again for his finisher, but Ziggler reverses into a tie-up, which Bobby reverses into a sunset-flip for another two! Dolph plants Roode with his Jumping-DDT but only gets two! They battle for a bit again, and then Ziggler hops out of Bobby’s Glorious DDT and into his Zig-Zag reverse-flatliner/neckbreaker! 1 – 2 – Roode just lifts his shoulder!

Dolph “tunes up the band” like Shawn Michaels, but Roode moves out of the way and rolls him up; Ziggler turns the roll-up over, but Bobby reverses that and drives Dolph to the canvas with his Glorious DDT! He covers and receives the victory!

Winner of Final Fall via Pinfall and ADVANCING to Survivor Series: Bobby Roode

Post-match, Roode is interviewed by Rene Young; he puts over Smackdown! and who’s on the team for Survivor Series.

Later tonight, Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens will wrestle to determine another spot on Team Smackdown!, and A.J. Styles faces Samir Singh.

Match #2: Single – United States Champion Baron Corbin VS. Sin Cara (Non-Title)

Corbin tries to get the better of Sin right away by tearing at Cara’s mask. He continues to dominate for a bit until Sin hits Baron on the outside with a forearm and then runs him into the steps. He pounds away on the floor and then charges at his legs. He runs at him again and they (awkwardly) tumble over the table. The bell suddenly rings and it is a no-contest.

Winner: None due to Referee Stoppage

Post-match, they continue to fight and Cara tosses a chair Baron’s way. Then quickly United States Champion bails through the crowd.

Backstage Promo

Rene Young asks Tag-Team Champions The Usos how they feel about wrestling Raw Tag-Team Champions The Shield – Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Jimmy and Jey state how they governed the Smackdown Tag Division and will control the whole Tag Division after Survivor Series.

Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable interrupt, and announce that Commissioner Shane McMahon has given them a Tag-Team Championship Match next week on Smackdown! Chad then raps like The Usos used to and then walks away with Benjamin.

The Singh Brothers and WWE Champion Jinder Mahal walk through the halls and will be out next!

Samir slaps A.J. in the face to begin, but Styles sweeps him up immediately and quickly finishes this with his Styles Clash!

Winner via Pinfall: A.J. Styles

Post-match, Mahal and Samil jump A.J. and lay a brutal beat-down on him.

Locker Room Promo

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are not pleased with how Commissioner Shane McMahon has named himself The Captain. However, they decide that when Kevin wins tonight and is on Team Smackdown!, then Smackdown! will win at Survivor Series, and McMahon will have to owe it all to Owens and Zayn, in which they will be able to do what they want! They would rename Smackdown! the Sami and Kevin Show.

Video Promo

The Bludgeon Brothers – Luke Harper and Erik Rowan – are coming!

Match #4: Single – Rusev (with Aiden English) VS. Big. E. (with New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston)

Rusev slaps Big E.’s “Akeem” hat off and then kicks away. Big. Counters a run into an abdominal stretch and then hits Rusev with an elbow. He stomps in the corner multiple times, but is pulled into the middle rope and thrown into the ring post, shoulder-first.

Rusev is still in control with an armlock on Big E, but E. gains some sudden momentum with a few belly-suplexes! He then drops a splash on Rusev and tries his finisher, but Rusev slides out and kicks Big in the head. Rusev runs into a one-arm slam! On the outside, New Day and Aiden get into it, which distracts Big and allows Rusev to kick him in the back-of-the-head and take this!

Winner via Pinfall: Rusev (with Aiden English)

Backstage Promo

Sin Cara tells us the significance of his mask with Rene Young.

Office Promo

Rusev and Aiden walk into Commissioner Shane’s office; they plead for Rusev to be on Team Smackdown!, but McMahon says he has to “earn it.” Next week, he will meet A.J. Styles for the spot.

Kevin Owens makes his entrance for the main-event!

Match #5: Single- Kevin Owens VS. Shinsuke Nakamura

(Note: Winner is on Team Smackdown at Survivor Series)

Shinsuke starts fast with strikes, so Owens takes a break on the floor. He goads Kevin into the ring and hits him with a knee, but Owens tricks Nakamura on the outside to take advantage. Shinsuke reverses a whip though, chucking Kevin into the barricade.

Owens is now controlling with a grounding rear-chinlock. Nakamura fights out of it and begin to clobber him with hands and feet. He places Kevin on the top ropes and runs at him with a knee-strike! Sami Zayn walks down and Owens rolls-up Shinsuke for a near-fall! Nakamura puts Kevin atop the turnbuckle but Owens counters and leaps off with a suplex! 1 – 2 – Shinsuke kicks out!

Nakamura reverses a Pop-Up Powerbomb and hits a knee, but Kevin doesn’t stay down. Shinsuke fires up for The Kin-Sasha, but Sami pulls Owens out of the ring! Nakamura follows but is thrown into the steps; Kevin jumps off of the top turnbuckle with a frogsplash for a very near-fall! He orders Zayn to “clear out that table,” which he does, but Randy Orton’s music hits! He comes out from the crowd and backdrops Sami onto the announcer’s table! Kevin turns around into a Kin-Sasha and Shinsuke covers for the victory!

Winner via Pinfall and ADVANCING to Survivor Series: Shinsuke Nakamura

Post-match, Nakamura and Randy are happy to close the show.
