Sasha Banks wins the Women’s title during the main event of Raw

Sasha Banks became a two-time WWE Raw Women’s champion last night after she defeated Charlotte in the main event of Raw, a rare opportunity for the women to main event a WWE show.

Charlotte tapped to the Banks Statement after nearly securing a pinfall after hitting the Natural Selection. Just prior to that, Charlotte hit a perfectly executed corkscrew moonsault from the top rope, landing on Sasha outside the ring.

Banks won both her WWE Women’s titles during Raw, with her first win coming on the first Raw after the draft. Banks was supposed to win the title at SummerSlam a few weeks later but WWE pulled the trigger early to give the show something special.

Her first title reign did not last long though as she lost the title at SummerSlam to Charlotte. Banks was out for a few weeks afterward with a back injury and returned to wrestle in a triple threat for the title with Bayley also in the picture. The match happened at Night of Champions and Charlotte came out victorious once again.

You have to go back to 2004 for the last time that a Women’s title match headlined Monday Night Raw. On December 6 of that year, Lita defeated Trish Stratus to become the new champion.
