Randy Orton to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2016

Randy Orton will be returning to the ring and will be facing Brock Lesnar at this year’s SummerSlam. The announcement was made yesterday on Smackdown in a segment which was inserted in post-production.

Orton has been out of action since late September 2015 and had to undergo shoulder surgery. His recovery took longer than expected and by the time he steps into the ring against Lesnar it will be 11 months since he last wrestled on WWE television.

Lesnar will also be having his first WWE match in quite a few months. He last wrestled Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32.

The direction for this match will probably be dependent on the outcome of Brock’s fight against Mark Hunt tomorrow at UFC 200, a fight which WWE did not mention at all on Smackdown when announcing Orton as Lesnar’s opponent for SummerSlam.
