Paul Bearer passes away at age 58

WWE.COM broke the news that William Moody, better known as Paul Bearer, passed away yesterday at the age of 58.

“WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer. Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Moody’s family, friends and fans,” read the report on the official WWE website.

Moody first showed up in WWE in February 1991 following the debut of the Undertaker a few months before at the Survivor Series and stayed on TV regularly involved in feuds till 1999 when the Undertaker got injured.

A year later, Bearer returned on TV to manage Kane and then moved to a road agent role backstage until his contract expired in 2002

In 2003, Bearer returned, signing a three year deal with the WWE and at WrestleMania XX came out with the Undertaker. His feuds continued and ultimately he was buried alive by the Undertaker during the Great American Bash when he poured concrete in a crypt Bearer was in.

After once again being let go in 2005, he made a few appearances in 2010, teaming up with the Undertaker and also with Kane in his feud with Edge. That storyline ended when Kane pushed the real Paul Bearer – after several impostors by Edge – off some leaders onto a concrete floor, writing him off WWE TV. In 2012 he returned briefly and was kidnapped by Randy Orton and stuck in a storage freezer.
