Monday Night Raw TV Report for May 16th, 2016

Introduction Segment: Welcoming and Arena Promo

The regular Raw video plays, the pyro goes off, and we are live in Greensboro, North Carolina! Tonight, The Usos will battle The Club – Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows!

A.J. Styles makes his entrances and takes the microphone. He talks about WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns being a “liar,” because of the accusations that A.J. has orchestrated The Club so he can win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Reigns promptly joins him and declares that he will be in his cousin’s corner tonight, (A.J. confirms that he will too be in The Club’s corner), and what he will do to Styles at Extreme Rules, which is to beat him and retain his title.

The Club walk out, but The Usos back up Roman. A.J. is given a punch by Roman that knocks him to the floor where Anderson and Gallows collect; the two sides stare-down.

Later tonight, Dean Ambrose will call out Chris Jericho in response to Smackdown’s events! Intercontinental Champion The Miz and Maryse walk to the commentary table, to announce the first bout between Sami Zayn and Cesaro!

Winner: None due to Double-Disqualification

Post-match, all four continue to fight until Shane McMahon prances out. He announces that the combatants will instead be in Tag-Team action, with Owens and Miz facing Cesaro and Zayn – a rematch from Smackdown! Stephanie McMahon joins and switches it up, making Owens and Sami tag together against Cesaro and Miz!

The concept of the Asylum Match is a Steel Cage Match that is topped with various weapons, including a fire extinguisher, straight-jacket, and a barbed-wire 2×4. Ambrose declares that there is “no way out!”

Match #8: Single – United States Champion Kalisto VS. Alberto Del Rio (Non-Title)

Kalisto whips Del Rio off the ropes, but Alberto hits back with a shoulder-block. Del Rio props Kalisto backward atop the turnbuckle, then hangs him upside down. He kicks and punches on Kalisto’s gut, and we are shown Sin Cara watching backstage. Kalisto gets a little momentum, but is caught off an apron-hurricanrana and spun into the barrier.

Alberto is still in control, dropping Kalisto with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, then diving off the second turnbuckle with a single-axe-handle. Backstage, Cara is suddenly hit with a chair by Rusev, who challenges Kalisto for the U.S. Championship Sunday at Extreme Rules. Del Rio continues to direct until he is crotched on the top turnbuckle!

Kalisto springboards onto Del Rio with a seated-senton, then a springboard-corkscrew-elbow. He drives Alberto to the canvas with a hurricanrana-facebuster for two, then sees Rusev continuing to attack Cara. This allows Alberto to give Kalisto the Backstabber and get the 1 – 2 – 3!

Up next is the contract signing for the Women’s Championship Match at Extreme Rules between Charlotte and Natalya!

Commercials.

Segment #8: Arena Promo

Shane and Stephanie are in the ring, and both compete for the fans’ attention first. Steph then goes to announce Charlotte, but Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair, interrupts and introduces his daughter himself. The Women’s Champion struts out with her father. She takes in the adoration of “Flair Country” from the fans, and wants to get going, but Shane informs her of the other person who needs to be involved.

Natalya is brought out, and she criticizes Charlotte for the ways she has kept her Women’s Championship lately. Natalya says that she is not the Charlotte she first met in NXT, where Charlotte won their Women’s Championship against Natalya in a fair-finish. Natalya signs the contract, and Charlotte goes to, but objects.

She and Ric notices another stipulation that was added by Shane and Stephanie; Ric is not allowed at ringside at all, and if he even tries, then Charlotte will be stripped of her Women’s Title right then and there! As well, if Charlotte does not sign it, then she loses her championship immediately!

Shane asks for security to take Ric away, but Flair gets in McMahon’s face. Charlotte begs him to stop, but Stephanie slaps him instead! Charlotte goes for Natalya, but Nattie sweeps her up and locks her in the Sharpshooter! The Women’s Champion taps, and Natalya releases. The crowd chants “you tapped out,” as Charlotte collects herself and her father in the aisle. Shane and security hold The Flairs back while Nattie smiles and holds the Women’s Championship up to close the show.

End of Raw.
