Mickie James to wrestle Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto

Former WWE Divas champion Mickie James is returning to WWE – or actually, NXT – and will be facing Asuka for the NXT Women’s title at NXT Takeover: Toronto in November.

The match was set up during last night’s NXT tapings and WWE even spoiled her return on an Instagram post.

James was last seen on WWE television in 2010 after she was unhappy on how the direction of the women’s division was moving forward. She had no contact with WWE until November 2013 when she served as a guest trainer at the WWE Performance Center for a week.

After leaving WWE, James joined TNA and was part of the Knockouts division until the end of 2013. She returned to the company in 2015 but her return only lasted a few months. She was written off television after James Storm “pushed” her onto a train track as part of a storyline in June but came back to life a month later for her final match.

She is a former 5 time WWE Women’s champion and a former 1 time WWE Divas champion. She also won the TNA Knockouts title 3 times.
