Jushin “Thunder” Liger coming to NXT: Takeover: Brooklyn

It was announced yesterday night at NXT that popular Japanese wrestler Justin “Thunder” Liger will be appearing at the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event on the eve of SummerSlam, live from the Barclays Center on the WWE Network.

“Running out of reasons not to get a ticket…. #FutureIsNow,” wrote Triple H on his Twitter after the announcement was made public. The high-flying Liger will be wrestling Tyler Breeze.

Liger works for New Japan Pro Wrestling and NJPW will have some of its roster participating at the ROH show which runs on the same night as Takeover in a different part of Brooklyn. Weeks ago there were rumors that WWE and Ring Of Honor will be working together on some projects although it’s unclear if this move is the beginning of their working relationship.

Despite his popularity, Liger never wrestled for the WWE, however he had two stints with WCW, one between 1991 and 1992 and the other between 1995 and 1999. He later wrestled for TNA between 2005 and 2006.
