Jerry Lawler suffers heart attack during live RAW broadcast

Jerry Lawler suffered a heart attack during the live broadcast of Monday Night RAW yesterday in Montreal, causing some ringside chaos and some change to the show.

Medical personnel rushed to ringside as the incident happened during the tag team match of Kane and Daniel Bryan vs Prime Time Players. Lawler fell off the chair and with the commentary halted, everyone scrambled to save the Hall of Famer’s life. He was taken backstage and CPR was performed on him and was then transported to a hospital via the waiting ambulance.

Michael Cole gave a few updates about Lawler throughout the rest of the show but there was no commentary at all for the segments that followed the tag team match. Lawler was then announced as breathing on his own and was responsive to light as he awaited a CT scan at the hospital.

The show went on with the other segments as planned however the Pat Patterson Appreciation Night that was supposed to go down after the show went off the air was scrapped due to the circumstances.

WWE released a statement after the show regarding Lawler which read, “Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal.  We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.”
