ESPN will not be in Brooklyn for SummerSlam coverage

Despite ESPN ramping up its WWE coverage with a new permanent subsection on ESPN.COM, the sports broadcasting company will not be at SummerSlam this year to cover the show on the road.

Last year, ESPN kicked off their relationship with WWE by attending SummerSlam, sending former WWE broadcaster Jonathan Coachman to do all the live interviews and reports from Brooklyn. Six months later, ESPN had a bigger presence at WrestleMania with Coachman once again anchoring all the WWE segments for his employer.

But next week, SummerSlam will be ESPN-less according to Coachman, who confirmed on his Twitter that they will not be in Brooklyn. “So sorry we will not be at Summerslam,” he wrote. “However our new @wwe vertical will have extensive coverage from Brooklyn.”

It seems that even though ESPN will not be at the show, coverage for SummerSlam will somewhat be showcased on ESPN television and on their new ESPN.COM section.
