Daniel Bryan is the new Smackdown General Manager

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Shane McMahon revealed last night on Monday Night Raw that Daniel Bryan is the new Smackdown General Manager, bringing the former WWE champion on regular television for the first time in over a year.

Bryan won the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 31, his last championship in the WWE and then was injured a few weeks later. He was pulled from the WWE European Tour after the April 14 Smackdown tapings where he teamed up with John Cena to take on Cesaro and Tyson Kidd. In early May, Bryan returned to WWE television to announce that he will be undergoing an MRI and has to drop the Intercontinental title.

In February of this year, an emotional Daniel Bryan said goodbye to the fans in the Raw main event segment from Seattle, Washington. He was supposed to appear at WrestleMania Axxess and at the following European tour however he was pulled from those appearances with no explanation given. He returned as one of the two commentators for WWE Network’s Cruiserweight Classic last month with Mauro Ranallo.

Bryan’s WWE career, while cut short due to several concussions, still has a long way to go as he is signed to a deal for a few more years. Bryan plays a supporting role in the Total Divas E! program and will also be featured on Total Bellas later in the Fall.
