Cesaro undergoing shoulder surgery today

Cesaro was supposed to be part of the 5 on 5 traditional Survivor Series match yesterday but was replaced by Titus O’Neil. Jim Ross then broke the news on his Twitter before the show that Cesaro was suffering from a shoulder injury and might need surgery.

In an interview with WWE.COM, Cesaro said that he had this injury for around two months but never knew how bad it was. After icing it for a while, he thought it wasn’t a serious injury as he still had strength and motion in and kept wrestling as if nothing happened.

“Then I thought, ‘Maybe if I were to know exactly what it is, it will be easier to rehab and get it better’ … and then I found out it’s a complete tear. [Laughs] So, no matter how much rehab I do, it will not reattach itself to the bone, unfortunately,” Cesaro said. After an MRI he found out that he tore a tendon and partially tore another one, requiring surgery to fix the problem.

Cesaro will be going under the knife today and his return date is up in the air. “I don’t want to be quoted on a timeframe. I think the official timeframe I was told was like four to six months, but that all depends on how surgery goes, how my rehab goes and so forth.”
