Brooklyn Brawler released from WWE

PWInsider.com is reporting that Steve Lombardi, better known to fans as the Brooklyn Brawler, was released from the WWE last week after 33 years of service to the company.

In his three plus decades with the WWE, Lombardi had several roles, first wrestling as the Brooklyn Brawler, then as Kamala’s handler Kim Chee under a mask, replaced the original Doink The Clown for a while, and also played the gimmick of baseball player MVP.

After he retired from in-ring competition, Lombardi transitioned to a role backstage, doing basically everything and also served as a producer/agent. He never won any titles while in the WWE but his contributions backstage certainly were more important to the company than his in-ring career.
