Brock Lesnar’s career in mixed martial arts consists of a 5-3 record, with four of those wins – and all three losses – coming in the UFC.
Lesnar had his first UFC fight against Frank Mir at UFC 81 in February 2008 in Las Vegas. While he destroyed Mir in the opening minutes, Mir caught him in a kneebar and Lesnar eventually tapped in the first round, starting his epic feud with Mir which culminated at UFC 100.
His second fight was against Heath Herring at UFC 187 in August 2008, playing “home” in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lesnar got his first UFC win here, a unanimous decision in a fight that went all three rounds.
UFC and Dana White were criticized for giving Lesnar a UFC Heavyweight title fight so early in his career but things took an interesting turn at UFC 91 in November 2008 as the rookie Lesnar defeated the champion and UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture in the second round in Las Vegas, Nevada to win the UFC title.
His first title defense came at UFC 100 against his arch rival Frank Mir. The build-up for this PPV was as best as it could have been with the two ready to literally kill each other in the Octagon. Lesnar got his payback on this night in July 2009, viciously beating Frank Mir in the second round in Las Vegas.
Brock had to defend the title at UFC 116 against the then undefeated Shane Carwin a year later also in Las Vegas. Lesnar finished off Carwin with an arm-triangle choke in the second round for his second successful title defense.
Three months after successfully beating Shane Carwin, Lesnar got in the Octagon with Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 and this time it was bad news for the major of Suplex City as Velasquez finished the UFC Heavyweight champ with a TKO in Anaheim, California to win the title.
Lesnar’s last fight in the UFC came at UFC 141 in December 2011 against Alistair Overeem. Lesnar was finished in the first round in just two minutes and a half after Overeem knocked him out with a body kick and punches. After the fight, Lesnar announced his retirement from the UFC.
Brock often said that his diverticulitis effected the way he fought and was never at 100% of his abilities during his time in the UFC due to his condition. The beast is now 100% healthy and ready to suplex anyone into oblivion.
His involvement in UFC pay-per-views often resulted in big buyrates. His first UFC 81 appearance drew 600,000 while his second drew 625,000 against Herring. His title fight against Couture drew 1,010,000 buys and then his monster fight against Mir did 1.6 million buys. He once again broke the million buys for his fight against Carwin with 1,060,000 buys and nearly touched that again against Velasquez, drawing 900,000. His last fight against Overeem drew only 535,000.
