WWE commentator Michael Cole has decided to tag team with his broadcast partner JBL to climb Mount Whitney in August as part of JBL’s Seven Summits program.

Cole wrote in his blog on Layfield’s website that he wants to drop down 40 pounds by mid August to be in better shape for his first climb. It will be interesting to see how it works out with his WWE schedule.

Mount Whitney is the highest summit in the contiguous United States with an elevation of 14,505 feet and lis located in the Sierra Nevada range in California.

JBL is trying to climb the world’s highest peaks on every continent in an effort to raise money for kids in Bermuda through the Family Centre. WWE is sponsoring his climbs.

Former WWE champion John “Bradshaw” Layfield has announced that he is returning to the WWE full-time doing commentary for Smackdown along with Josh Matthews and on pay-per-views with Cole and King.

“Very happy WWE and I have worked out a deal for me to return on a full time basis. There came a need when my friend Jerry Lawler had a heart attack and was not able to work, however, I realized how much I enjoyed being back and this was the basis for my decision to return.”

Apart from doing Smackdown, JBL will fill in for The Miz when The Miz will be wrestling on Main Event.

Bradshaw said that his return does not involve getting in the ring again as he doesn’t want to risk getting injured while doing training for his Seven Summits climbs.

Regarding doing RAW as well, JBL said that the show is “100% Jerry’s” and there are no plans to turn it in a three-man booth.

John “Bradshaw” Layfield issued an apology to Carlos Colon, Primo, and Epico, after a line he said on Monday Night RAW offended the three Puerto Ricans.

Layfield explained how as a heel commentator he tries to say things to put over certain individuals and what he says is not intended to offend anyone, but rather entertain.

He went on how he called himself as a “dollar working with two dimes,” referring to his two broadcast colleagues, Jim Ross and Michael Cole, and then listed other jabs at other Superstars which he said on RAW however when it came to the Colon’s, the trio apparently got offended.

During his commentary, the self-proclaimed wrestling god said that while Primo comes from a great heritage and his father – Carlos Colon – was a 24-time Puerto Rico champion, he still owed him and many others money.

“Apparently I have offended Mr Colon and/or the wrestling community/office in Puerto Rico. This was never intended, there was no malice. I was trying to entertain – and put his kids over by listing their histories. So my apologies to Mr Colon, Primo and Epico, and any of the other wrestling community in Puerto Rico that are now upset,” the former WWE champion wrote.

JBL is climbing the seven highest mountain peaks in the world in support for the charity he supports in Bermuda. WWE is sponsoring the climbs, forking around a quarter of a million dollars to help Bradshaw achieve his goal.

“13 1/2 hour day. Beyond tired. I planted a @wwe flag at the top of Africa! All to help kids! #sevensummitsforkids,” JBL tweeted after reaching the summit.

This is his second climb, failing the first one – Mount Elbrus in Russia – after weather complications.

JBL returned to commentary yesterday filling in for Jerry “The King” Lawler at Night of Champions and is also expected to tag team with Michael Cole tonight on RAW.

“Had a blast filling in for Jerry Lawler last night at Night of Champions, really rusty – but was wonderful to be back,” Layfield wrote on his website.

The former WWE champion will be flying to Africa on Friday to climb Mount Kilimanjaro so he will not be doing commentary every week.

“Long story short, I didn’t plan on filling in for Jerry and I am sure he didn’t plan on having a heart attack. I wish him well as he is a good friend. And, that’s his spot-not mine. I was asked to fill in and I did,” JBL added, making a point that he’s not going to take the spot full time.

“I love the WWE, I will always consider it home and if they need me to fill in or come back to do something, I have always been open to that.”

Former WWE champion John “Bradshaw” Layfield had a close call in his first out of seven mountain climbs which he is doing for a charity in Barbados where he lives.

JBL’s first trip was to Russia where he is conquering Mount Elbrus as part of his Seven Summits challenge, an adventure which WWE is sponsoring.

Before he set off for the summit, he noted on Twitter that there’s bad weather and that it will be very cold and wet.

“Got hypoxia and was fighting frostbite, still made it to 1,000 feet of summit then huge storm pushed us off mountain,” JBL later tweeted, adding that he is lucky to be alive.

He was doing good after coming back and recuperating from a tough climb. JBL is carrying a WWE flag with him and is planning to plant it at every top of the seven highest mountains in each continent that he’s planning to go to.
