Bautista on the cover of the latest Muscle & Fitness magazine

Former WWE and World Heavyweight champion Dave Bautista is on the cover of the latest edition of Muscle & Fitness magazine.

Batista is photographed wearing MMA gloves with the headline “Dave Bautista. The man with the iron fists. From the WWE to MMA!” Bautista is featured in the move The Man With The Iron Fists, hence the headline which is tied to his new MMA career.

The magazine also has an article looking at the best – and worst – bodies in pro wrestling.

This is not the first time that Dave has been on the cover of Muscle & Fitness. He appeared before in the September 2008 issue.

Dave Bautista wins MMA debut in the first round

Dave Bautista won his MMA debut yesterday night defeating MMA veteran Vince Lucero in the first round after the referee stopped the fight with just over a minute to go.

The former WWE and World Heavyweight champion was on the receiving end of some hard shots in the opening two and a half minutes and wasn’t good in trying to defend himself, finding himself backed up against the cage while Lucero pummeled him.

However Bautista then landed a takedown, pinned his opponent’s right arm, took his back, and started hammering down on Lucero and the referee stepped in after Lucero couldn’t protect himself better.

Dave Bautista making MMA debut tonight in heavyweight fight

Former WWE and World Heavyweight champion Batista will be making his MMA debut tonight, fighting under his real name of Dave Bautista.

The 43 year old is fighting Vincent Lucero after his original opponent, Rashid Evans, had to be pulled out from the fight.

In an interview with Sportsvibe.co.uk, Bautista said that by the time his opponent was changed, his training camp was already done and with lack of footage of his new opponent, there was no way to change training or plans, so he’s going in with the same game plan.

Speaking about being compared to Lashley and Lesnar – who both ventured into MMA before he did – Bautista said that while both of them based their MMA on wrestling, he prefers standing up and striking.

The fight will air tonight on pay-per-view as well as on his website BautistaMMA.com.

Batista’s first MMA opponent replaced, fight still on for October 6

Batista’s first professional MMA opponent for this week’s show had to be changed as the original opponent – Rashid Evans (no relation to UFC’s Rashad Evans – had to be pulled out due to an unforeseen incident.

Replacing Evans will be Vince Lucero, stepping up in a week’s notice to fight the former WWE and World Heavyweight champion in his first pro MMA fight.

The fight will take place on a card which is being held at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The show is titled “Real Pain,” and is presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports in association with June Entertainment and 4zero1 Entertainment Group.

It will be available on pay-per-view on DirecTV and will be streamed live on www.bautistamma.com using the Vividas service.
