It was on Sunday May 23rd 1999 when the Over The Edge pay-per-view was transmitting live to thousands of homes across the nation and a packed house of 18,000 fans watching inside the arena. In one of the worst accidents in the history of professional wrestling, Owen Hart fell to his death from the rafters of the Kemper Arena prior to his match against The Godfather. That night, Owen Hart was scheduled to win the Intercontinental title. Owen's death put the WWF/Hart family relationship to its limits, resulting in a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the WWF.

For many years, Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling served as WWE's biggest competitor. In 1996, after signing major names such as Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Randy Savage and other ex WWE Superstars, WCW went on a roll and managed to defeat WWE in the ratings war, live event attendances, pay-per-view buyrates etc. But in 2001, WCW collapsed as AOL Time Warner rushed to sell the company that went from doing millions of profit to millions of losses. After Eric Bischoff's team failed to secure WCW, Vince McMahon and his World Wrestling Entertainment bought the competition.

On November 13th 2005, one of the most loved wrestling Superstars to ever step foot in the squared circle passed away in his hotel room in Minneapolis, MN., just hours before a scheduled RAW and Smackdown! tapings. On that night, many believed that Eddie was going to win the World Heavyweight Title from Batista, who was scheduled to take time off to undergo back surgery. However, tragedy struck in the morning of Sunday November 13th as the world of professional wrestling was shocked and had to say yet another goodbye to Latino Heat.

The biggest event for 2007 in the pro wrestling calendar is without a doubt WrestleMania. 20 years after breaking all records at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, MI., for WrestleMania III, WWE comes back to town at the Ford Field for the 23rd WrestleMania. Headlined by Batista vs Undertaker for the World title and John Cena vs Shawn Michaels for the WWE title, this year's event will surely not disappoint. Billionaire and WWE fan Donald Trump will also be a part of the show as he and Vince McMahon will have their hair on the line in the Battles of the Millionaires match with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the referee!

On June 25th 2007, the news of the Benoit family murders rocked the world of professional wrestling. The former World heavyweight champion was found dead in his home along with his wife Nancy and seven year old son Daniel. Later that night, WWE held a three hour tribute to the 'Canadian Crippler', only to find out the next day that what happened inside the Benoit household the previous weekend would change the general opinion on Chris Benoit forever. Chris Benoit killed his wife on Friday, killed his mentally-retarded son on Saturday and then committed suicide on Sunday morning. The most shocking story in wrestling.
THE SPECIAL REPORT ON THE BENOIT FAMILY MASSACRE


The death of Chris Benoit left a massive aftershock in the world of professional wrestling. A lot of questions were being asked if the Wellness Program was doing any good for the WWE Superstars and the US Congress decided to investigate why many wrestlers die under the age of 45. One company, Signature Pharmacy in Florida was under investigation by New York prosecutors for sale of illegal steroids and medication. When the clients list was revealed, WWE officials were in for a big surprise and it led to a lot of suspensions, change of plans and title swapping.
