It was on Sunday May 23rd 1999 when the Over The Edge
pay-per-view was transmitting live to thousands of homes across
the nation and a packed house of 18,000 fans watching inside the
arena. In one of the worst accidents in the history of
professional wrestling, Owen Hart fell to his death from the
rafters of the Kemper Arena prior to his match against The
Godfather. That night, Owen Hart was scheduled to win the
Intercontinental title. Owen's death put the WWF/Hart family
relationship to its limits, resulting in a multimillion dollar
lawsuit against the WWF.

For many years, Ted Turner's World
Championship Wrestling served as WWE's biggest competitor. In
1996, after signing major names such as Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash,
Scott Hall, Randy Savage and other ex WWE Superstars, WCW went
on a roll and managed to defeat WWE in the ratings war, live
event attendances, pay-per-view buyrates etc. But in 2001, WCW
collapsed as AOL Time Warner rushed to sell the company that
went from doing millions of profit to millions of losses. After
Eric Bischoff's team failed to secure WCW, Vince McMahon and his
World Wrestling Entertainment bought the competition.

On November 13th 2005, one of the
most loved wrestling Superstars to ever step foot in the squared
circle passed away in his hotel room in Minneapolis, MN., just
hours before a scheduled RAW and Smackdown! tapings. On that
night, many believed that Eddie was going to win the World
Heavyweight Title from Batista, who was scheduled to take time
off to undergo back surgery. However, tragedy struck in the
morning of Sunday November 13th as the world of professional
wrestling was shocked and had to say yet another goodbye to
Latino Heat.

The biggest event for 2007 in the pro wrestling calendar is
without a doubt WrestleMania. 20 years after breaking all
records at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, MI., for
WrestleMania III, WWE comes back to town at the Ford Field for
the 23rd WrestleMania. Headlined by Batista vs Undertaker for
the World title and John Cena vs Shawn Michaels for the WWE
title, this year's event will surely not disappoint. Billionaire
and WWE fan Donald Trump will also be a part of the show as he
and Vince McMahon will have their hair on the line in the
Battles of the Millionaires match with Stone Cold Steve Austin
as the referee!

On June 25th 2007, the news of the Benoit family murders
rocked the world of professional wrestling. The former World
heavyweight champion was found dead in his home along with
his wife Nancy and seven year old son Daniel. Later that
night, WWE held a three hour tribute to the 'Canadian
Crippler', only to find out the next day that what happened
inside the Benoit household the previous weekend would
change the general opinion on Chris Benoit forever. Chris
Benoit killed his wife on Friday, killed his
mentally-retarded son on Saturday and then committed suicide
on Sunday morning. The most shocking story in wrestling.

The death of Chris Benoit left a
massive aftershock in the world of professional wrestling. A
lot of questions were being asked if the Wellness Program
was doing any good for the WWE Superstars and the US
Congress decided to investigate why many wrestlers die under
the age of 45. One company, Signature Pharmacy in Florida
was under investigation by New York prosecutors for sale of
illegal steroids and medication. When the clients list was
revealed, WWE officials were in for a big surprise and it
led to a lot of suspensions, change of plans and title
swapping.
