Update on the death of Adam "Dykes" Firestorm

Reported by: Colin Vassallo
Submitted on: Nov 7, 2009 - 9:33:23 PM

We can now report that Adam "Firestorm" Dykes, host of Ringside with Ian Hamilton up until this week, committed suicide on Thursday evening. We thought it was yesterday night but it was actually on November 5 and SLAM! Wrestling is reporting the suicide story so we figured since the cat was out of the bag there's no point in hiding it. We didn't want to report it when we sent out the update before out of respect for his family but it is now public.

Canadian-based website SLAM! Wrestling posted two messages on the website which came from his relatives, originally posted on their respective Facebook accounts.

"I will love you forever. Fiercely and deeply. You were the one person in this world who understood me. You were a piece of me that lived somewhere else," wrote Jules Dykes. "I will NEVER be the same. This world is now a very dark place. I miss you desperately, deeply, and forever."

His wife Emele said, "There are no words. I am so sad and so sorry and I know God holds you in the palm of his hands. Thomas and I will always love and miss you."

It is odd, tragic and hard to comprehend to know that he committed suicide the day after he and Ian finished taping an interview for the show regarding the Chris Benoit double-murder suicide story.

He was a good man and with Ian made Ringside what it is today in the span of two years. I'm sure he is in a better place now.
