- Verne Gagne - former owner and promoter of the American Wrestling Association (AWA) - is the latest individual to be inducted into the WWE 2006 Hall of Fame. The irony is that back in the 80's, Vince McMahon made an offer to buy the AWA however Gagne turned it down. McMahon responded by raiding the people that worked for Gagne and eventualy the AWA had to shut down operations in the beginning of the 90s. The story gets more interesting as when Hogan - who left the AWA - was scheduled to take on the Iron Sheik, Gagne offered the Sheik money to make sure he breaks Hogan's leg, an offer which the Iron Sheik turned down. He will be inducted by his son Greg. Verne and Greg were never part of WWE. Also it was announced that the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase will be inducting his former manager, Sensational Sherri.
