IMPACT Wrestling TV report for 05/31/12
Reported by: Mark Cochran , on Jun 2, 2012 - 12:16:28 PM

Show starts with a recap of last weeks Impact.

We are Live in the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL. Pyro goes off and Mike Tenay and Taz welcome us to the first live Impact.

Lumberjacks surround the ring for the first match. The first participant is the TNA champ Bobby Roode, who is now the longest reigning TNA champ in history. Next to come out is the Insane Icon himself, Sting. Crowd is going bonkers for The Stinger. This crowd is pumped for the first live Impact.

Roode is good as always and makes Sting look very strong, as only a heel can do. Sting looks like he hasn't missed a beat in his absence. The point of the lumberjacks is kinda pointless to me. Just to get people on the show I guess. It's funny cause the faces are on one side and the heels are on the other, so whenever Sting gets thrown out it's on the heels side and Roode gets thrown out on the faces side.

Roode stays in control throughout much of this match, but Sting gets some offense in as well. Match ends with Roode going for his patented fisherman suplex, Sting reverses it into a Scorpion Death Drop, then puts him in a Scorpion Deathlock and Roode surprisingly taps. Winner: Sting.

Enter Hulk Hogan. Hogan says that the main event at Slammiversary is Sting vs. Bobby Roode for the TNA championship.

Backstage we see Madison Rayne getting ready for tonight. She is still giddy about some unknown guy.

In the ring Bully Ray starts to talk. It's his usual speech. He is calling out Joseph Park and it shows Bully Ray beating up Joseph Park last week. He says he wants to fight Park right now and tells him to get in the ring.

Park says he doesn't want to fight and Bully Ray calls him a coward. He then calls his whole family cowards. Park snaps and charges the ring, but security stops him (yet all the other weeks then never tried to stop him). Bully Ray tells them to let him in. Park reluctantly enters the ring and Bully Ray tells him to fight him.

Bully Ray then says he is guilty of leaving Abyss for dead. Park snaps and attacks Bully. Bully is cowering down now and says if Park hits him he will sue. Park backs off and says he doesn't want to stoop to Bully's level. Bully then calls him a coward and walks out of the ring. Park then challenges Bully to a fight right now. Bully Ray then says that they will fight at Slammiversary.

Next is a match for the X-Division Title. Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin. The X-Division has always been my favorite part of TNA. But lately it has been put on the back burner, so I like it when we still have matches like this one. This match was awesome (like all X-Division matches are)! It ended with Sabin going for a Cradleshock and Aries reversing it into a roll up for the win. Winner and still X-Division champ, Austin Aries.

Backstage, from earlier in the week, Hogan thanks Taz for stepping up and being a part of Gut Check. Then it shows Taz with the other judges of Gut Check. They are going over the guy from last week. They talk about him and they argue quite a bit. It's a long segment but in the end they are still unsure about him.

Backstage JB talks to the competitors looking to compete for the TV title. The winner will be chosen by fan voting.

Now coming to the ring is Dixie Carter. She says she is proud of everyone involved. She says at Slammiversary they will be inducting the first ever TNA Hall Of Famer. She now says she is happy to announce the new Knockouts Division representative, Brooke Hogan. Brooke enters and all the talk is about girl power and whatnot. Brooke defiantly needs work on her in ring talking. Thankfully the segment was short.

Backstage Kaz and Daniels are mad that Dixie for not mentioning the AJ Styles incident.

Now it's time to find out who gets to face Devon for the TV title. The winner (not surprisingly) is Jeff Hardy. Decent match but again no winner. Robbie E and Robbie T interfere before the match can finish. They start beating up Devon and Hardy but Devon turns the tables and now Hardy and Devon start cleaning house. They fight them right out of the ring.

It's now time to see if Joey Ryan makes the TNA Gut Check cut. The judges and in the ring and ready for Ryan to come out. He talks and says that the judges should say yes to him. He is very cocky and really tries to pull off a big heel look. The first judge says no. The second says yes. Now its up to Taz. But before they let Taz speak they let him speak. He cuts a great promo and I like him. Taz now says no and they are at each others throat. So they say no and he is gone.

Next match is AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels. There is almost no way for this match not to be good. The match great and ended was good too.

Styles went for a Styles Clash but Kaz ran up to the ring and tried to interfere. AJ then punched him and then Daniels rolled him up for a two count. AJ then hit and springboard DDT in the corner and wins. Kaz and Daniel then start pounding on AJ. Angle then runs down and starts cleaning house on Daniels and Kaz. Then Daniels hits Angle with a low blow.

They then tie Angle to the ropes. AJ tries to fight back but they hit him with one of there Tag Team Title belts. They then hit Angle with a belt. Then parade around the ring and say that they will now show ultimate proof of the affair between AJ and Dixie.

It is audio of AJ talking to Dixie via phone. They are talking about meeting at her house over the weekend. Dixie then comes to the announcer table and starts screaming for them to turn off the sound.

End Show
