WWE rejects settlement deal with Benoit estate

Reported by: Colin Vassallo
Submitted on: Dec 16, 2007 - 10:41:33 PM

- Michael Benoit - the father of Chris Benoit - had his deal offered to WWE rejected which asked for a $2 million compensation to the two other children Chris had from a previous marriage as a "recognition of their father's contributions to the company," said Cary Ichter, the Atlanta-based attorney representing Michael Benoit. Benoit - who oversees his son's estate - is now probably going to sue the company for the money. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that under the proposed settlement, the $2 million would have gone to the children and in exchange the Benoit estate would have renounced any future claims against WWE. The company insists that they had nothing to do with the Benoit double murder-suicide and see no reason why they have to pay.
