LATEST NEWS FROM WRESTLING-ONLINE.COM NEWSWIRE THQ, JAKKS win a round in court over WWE By Colin Vassallo Aug 30, 2008 - 12:16:40 AM - JAKKS Pacific today sent a press release to announce that the Connecticut State Court has granted summary judgment in the state court action, dismissing WWE’s bribery and anti-trust claims against JAKKS and its principals on the basis of collateral estoppel and statute of limitations grounds. WWE immediately issued another statement saying that they will appeal the decision despite the court's ruling. "The decision today from Connecticut State Court says that the prior federal court decision in this matter precludes the Connecticut court from allowing WWE to present our case on the merits. We believe the federal court decision was wrong, and are taking steps to have it corrected on appeal," WWE said. WWE is trying to have its video game license with JAKKS and THQ annulled saying that JAKKS' highest ranking officers made secret payments to WWE's Stanley Shenker and James Bell to win the rights to produce the video games. Both Shenker and Bell are in jail after pleading guilty to the charges. Despite the lawsuit, the two sides still do business together when it comes to releasing popular action figures and best-selling video games. [Back
