- Former World Heavyweight champion Edge underwent successful surgery this past weekend to repair his torn left pectoral muscle, an injury he received during the Smackdown! tapings in New Orleans two weeks ago. Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, AL., performed the surgery. Dr. Andrews said that once they opened up the Rated-R Superstar, it was discovered that he had a complete tear of the tendon attaching to the muscle...right off the bone! Dr. Andrews admits that initially he thought that the tear was only a partial but everyone was surprised to find out that it was completely torn. "The injury could have been career-threatening if not properly repaired," he added. Edge is expected to stay out of the ring for the next four months.
