Here are the results and quotes from Live from yesterday's UFC on Fuel TV 4: Munoz vs Weidman, which took place from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
Preliminary Card: (aired on Facebook)
Raphael Assuncao defeated Issei Tamura
Quote by Assuncao: "It feels great to go in there and get my first finish in the UFC. I'm glad I made the move to bantamweight because I was able to completely change my training regimen. I've always worked on all aspects of mixed martial arts but this time I trained each discipline separately and then tied them together after the fact which helped me a lot. Tamura was tough and was coming off trying to counter with wild hooks after I threw my kicks. Because of that I was able to counter his hook and get the TKO. I've been out of the circuit for awhile so I'm hoping to talk to Joe Silva and Sean Shelby and get back in there ASAP."
Quote by Tamura: "I'm very upset with myself. I made a lot of mistakes, but I will fix them and be back."
Marcelo Guimaraes defeated Dan Stittgen
Quote by Guimaraes: "I'm happy with the win but disappointed in my performance because I know I can show much more to the fans. I trained for eleven months for this fight and want to fight once more before the end of the year. The yelling was just an expression of emotion and of me giving everything I had. I knew that I won the first round and lost the second so in the third I had to let it all go. I was pushing my mind, body, and soul in the last few minutes because I had to finish strong in order to win."
Quote by Stittgen: "I disagree with the decision and I know that I clearly won that fight. I landed cleaner shots and I took him down. He never took me down and wasn't landing as well."
Andrew Craig defeated Rafael Natal
Quote by Craig: "I feel very sore and everything hurts. My legs hurt, my feet hurt, my arms hurt, my hands hurt, it all hurts. My plan was to start off faster and avoid the takedown which I think I was able to do. Unfortunately, he caught me and beat me up pretty bad so I don't know how well the plan really worked. Maybe I needed to take a few shots to wake me up. I had been trying to set up that kick the whole fight and I'm glad I was finally able to connect on it. I'm not super anxious to get back in there so I want to spend a few days in San Francisco and then go back to Texas and take my time healing up."
Quote by Natal: "It was a very tough fight. I'm in the best shape of my life but I just wasn't able to finish him."
Chris Cariaso defeated Josh Ferguson
Quote by Cariaso: "I definitely feel like I worked the bugs out this time and the 125lb division feels like home. I just feel a lot stronger at this weight and I don't think I've lost any of my speed which was a concern coming into the fight. When I saw him buckle I jumped down to try and finish and he pulled guard. In hind sight I probably should've let him back up but I'm happy with my performance regardless. I see myself in the top three or four in the division so I want whoever is in line behind Demetrious Johnson and Joe Benavidez."
Quote by Ferguson: "I thought it was a good tough fight. I was trying to implement my game plan but he was very successful in nullifying it. I think I rushed my takedowns too much in the beginning. I knew I had that choke at the end so I tried to squeeze as harder than I ever had in my life but I just couldn't get it."
Alex Caceres defeated Damacio Page
Quote by Caceres: "I feel really good because I did what I was supposed to do out there. I thought he was going to come out and bang but he could't seem to find his range so he went for the takedown but I wasn't too frantic about that. I knew he was going to try and ground and pound me but that's what guys try to do to me in the gym everyday so I've become very good at defending it. I saw he was breathing hard on top so I knew he was tiring and started to look for the sub. I'm glad he opened up throwing wide punches and I was able to capitalize with the triangle. It's an inadvertent message that you have to watch out for my ground game too. I hear there is a card coming up in China and I would love to be on it!"
Quote by Page: "Very Disappointed. Just got caught."
Main Card: (aired on Fuel TV)
Rafael dos Anjos defeated Anthony Njokuani
Quote by Dos Anjos: "I trained so hard for this fight. I worked a lot on my wrestling with my coaches and I'm glad I was able to do so well and make them proud. I wanted to wear him down and keep on top as much as possible. I used my kicks on the feet to keep the distance and set up my takedowns. I've fought twice now in two months so I'm looking forward to some time off with my family."
Quote by Njokuani: "I broke my arm in the first round and it made it impossible to throw combinations and defend. It affected me through the whole fight."
T.J. Dillashaw defeated Vaughan Lee
Quote by Dillashaw: "I knew he was a tough grappler coming into this fight but I have even tougher grapplers at the gym. My wrestling was much stronger and I have better scrambling so I'm glad I was able to execute in those positions. I wanted to stay calm and relaxed when we scrambled and I thought about returning him to the mat when I got his back but he moved toward the fence. He was really good at hand fighting but there was one opportunity to seal in the choke and I was able to do it. It's super nice to fight two hours from my hometown and I'm glad I got the win but I definitely haven't shown everything I have."
Francis Carmont defeated Karlos Vemola
Quote by Carmont: "He was a very strong guy and the game plan was to stay standing up with him but when it went to the ground I was ready for that too. I'm ready for the toughest fights that the UFC is willing to give me. I want to keep proving myself and keep moving up in the division."
Quote by Vemola: "There's not much to say. I got caught."
Aaron Simpson defeated Kenny Robertson
Quote by Simpson: "I'm not happy at all with my performance. I wouldn't have beaten a guy like Jon Fitch with that showing tonight and a guy like Kenny shouldn't have been able to last with me in there. I have to get used to the speed at 170 but I was able to wear him down once I got my weight on him. I wanted to strike and put my hands on him but he was smart and circled away from my power right hand. I need to land strikes and submissions that are going to finish guys if I'm going to be successful at this weight. Next time I'll stay lighter and make the cut a little easier on myself."
Quote by Robertson: "He was a tough guy and he wore me down. I tried to use my speed and range to execute my takedowns but clearly I still have the clinch and dirty boxing engrained in me so it kind of ruined that plan. I'll fix some things and be back."
James Te-Huna defeated Joey Beltran
Quote from Te Huna: "I feel a little broken down and beaten up right now. It was a good fight and he's tough as nails I hit him with a lot of big shots that would've put just about anyone out. I broke my hand and my foot half way through the first round so I tried to just stick in there, make it through the fight, and get the win. I'm going to go home and heal up then polish up my game and keep climbing the ladder in the division."
