Tonight is the first of back to back nights of fights from the UFC. The card tonight is free on FX and has 12 fights listed on the card. The main event will feature two of the best lightweights in the world as Gray Maynard takes on Clay Guida.
Gray Maynard (11-1-1) will see his first action since his back to back fights with the former champion Frankie Edgar for the title. The first ending in a draw and the rematch saw Edgar come out victorious and hand Maynard the first loss of his career. The man known as "The Bully" has moved on from Extreme Couture in Las Vegas where he has been to this point and settled down at AKA in San Jose in hopes of advancing his skill set even more.
The man standing across the octagon from him will be Clay "The Carpenter" Guida (29-9-0) who has been a staple in the UFC's lightweight division since 2006. The former Strikeforce champion was on the cusp of getting his first shot at the UFC lightweight title when he lost a unanimous decision in the number 1 contender bout with current champion Benson Henderson on the first UFC on Fox card. Guida had been on a four fight win streak up to that point with three of the four wins coming by submission.
