Hello, Wrestling-Online fans, and Welcome to the Jumble!
Hurray for the return of the “King of the Ring” competition! (Yeah, it would be better on PPV again but I'll take it where I can get it.) Only one question - Why William Regal? Don’t get me wrong, I think Regal is a superb wrestler but he hasn’t been an active participant for awhile now. Could it be that he’s planning on stepping into the squared circle on a more permanent basis again? But if he is, then who will be the new general manager of “Raw?” Ah, perhaps this is the reason Mick Foley has replaced Jonathan Coachman at the broadcast table on “SmackDown.” Coach may just be heading back to “Raw” to take over the GM’s duties. Works for me!
Major kudos to the person who added Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s likenesses into the “SmackDown vs. Raw” videogame footage! That was absolutely hilarious, especially Hillary jumping around like Mickie James!
I also want to pass along kudos to the three Presidential candidates for their taped messages to the WWE’s fans. Personally, I thought John McCain did the best job out of the three, with Hillary running second. I couldn’t exactly smell what Barack was cooking, though.
Does Michelle McCool have a death wish? She’s not exactly up to par with the likes of Beth Phoenix, yet she slapped the taste out of Beth’s mouth last Monday during the celebration of Mickie’s victory over Beth. I doubt the Glamazon will allow that to go unpunished.
Loved the 8-man tag team main event! It’s too bad these guys are all on different shows so we may not see something like this again for awhile.
There’s definitely trouble in paradise brewing for John Morrison and The Miz, although it’s beginning to look a little one-sided. Morrison lost to Jimmy Wang Yang on ECW and after the match it looked like he and Miz were yelling at each other. Then Miz lost to Shannon Moore on “SmackDown” but Morrison appeared more angry at Moore than he did at Miz. So is Miz the loose cannon in this situation? Will he be the first to snap on his partner? Or will Morrison suddenly go from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde and pummel an unsuspecting Miz? Things that make you go hmmmm!
Correct me if I’m wrong (and I’m sure someone will!) but didn’t Edge say something during his “Cutting Edge” segment on ECW about two decades of the Brothers of Destruction? Kane didn’t debut until October of 1997. He was around in the WWE before that as Isaac Yankem, not Kane. Undertaker didn’t even know his “brother” was supposedly alive until Paul Bearer blurted it out in the summer of ‘97, then Kane appeared during Taker’s “Hell in a Cell” match against Shawn Michaels at the “Badd Blood” PPV. I think either I heard Edge incorrectly or he misspoke. One or the other.
Did Teddy Long get dressed in the dark last Friday? That plaid jacket he had on was just plain ugly!
Nattie Neidhart (because I’m just not used to calling her Natalya yet) must’ve made her Uncle Bret proud when she forced Cherry to submit to the Sharpshooter!
At this point in the Jumble I would usually be continuing on with my “SmackDown” thoughts, but unfortunately I missed the rest of the program. So instead here are a few quick thoughts on “Backlash” …
Number 12 sure is sweet! Yes, my dear readers, my Trips is now a 12-time Champion! Yee haw!!!
Congrats to Matt Hardy on his victory over MVP and becoming the new U.S. Champ! I like MVP a lot, but I’m really glad to see Matt win a title, too. It seems like he hasn’t held a belt for awhile now.
So Big Show can defeat The Great Khali but he can’t defeat Floyd Mayweather? Yeah, that makes no sense to me either. At least Show proved that he still is a dominant force to be reckoned with!
Kane and The Undertaker both retained their belts and the only thing I have to say on that is thank goodness! I would’ve bet money on Taker retaining but I wouldn’t have been so sure about Kane, especially since Chavo has his new bodyguard Bam Neely around.
Now that Shawn Michaels has defeated Batista, perhaps we won’t be hearing any more annoying whining from The Animal. We can only hope!
Before I go, I’d like to send my thoughts and prayers to Umaga and his family following the passing of his mother, Elevera Anoa'i Fatu, last Friday. It’s never easy to lose a loved one, even when that person has been suffering from a disease like cancer for years. My heart is with them.
That’s going to do it for me this week. Take care, everyone, and I’ll see ya in The Jumble!
