Wow What a week in wrestling. We haven't had on air drama like this in a long time. It's a nice change. Plus injuries and hookers being forced out of the closet. So let's just jump right in and get started.
But, before I get started I want to send out a special birthday wish. It goes out to Benny Coloma. Benny is from Salem Oregon and is turning 11 years old today. He his a huge wrestling fan and his favorite wrestler is Rey Mysterio Jr. I've never met Benny, but I've talked to his mom and he sounds like a great kid. You may not realize it, Benny, but your the future of this great sport. Whether you ever decide to go into the business, or just remain a lifelong fan. You and fans like you are the ones that will take professional wrestling into the future. So have a great day Benny, and I hope all your birthday wishes come true.
I guess I should start with the biggest noise maker right now. I'm talking about William Regal. I think it's great what he's doing. When they originally gave him the King of the Ring victory, I was disappointed. I didn't see the point. Now, I think it's absolutely brilliant. Everybody hates a power hungry dictator and that's exactly what he's turned into. Regal is a very good wrestler that I believe has one good run left in him. He deserves a title run. Plus it will help keep Triple H a baby face throughout the summer.
So, do you think Ashley Massaro is a high priced call girl? She is denying everything. Claiming there is a model that goes by the same name and it's a just mistaken identity. The accusation was made last weekend in an article in Rolling Stones magazine. The story claims Ashley worked for a "high class" escort service getting paid $25,000 per night for her "services". The agency was recently shut down by the FBI. That is where Ashley's name first surfaced. Rolling Stone Contributing Editor Michelle Grigoriadis recently commented on Ashley's denial. Grigoriadis stated, "Obviously, I stand by my story. Massaro is named in an FBI search warrant that was executed on Michelle Braun's property in October, 2007. I have no knowledge of another woman by the same name.".
So I guess Ashley was good on her back even before she learned to take bumps. I still don't understand who would think Ashley is worth 25 grand a night. I don't think this will affect her job with the WWE. In fact, if it turns out to be true then Vince will surely make a positive out of it. Maybe take a high road and brag about taking a hooker and giving her a respectable job with the WWE. Who knows, maybe he'll just turn her character into a stuck up call girl type of diva. Either way he comes out smelling like a rose. And on a side note, I don't have a DD rack, but if you want to spend an evening with a long haired blonde, then send me a first class plane ticket and only 10 grand. I may not be easy, but I'm cheaper then Ashley, and a lot of fun.
Now onto the injury report. Last week at the TNA impact tapings, Petey Williams suffered what is believed a broken orbital bone. He was hit with a stiff knee from Jimmy Rave and it was originally reported that he had a broken jaw. Petey was freaking out backstage because he doesn't have any health insurance. Terry Taylor told Petey to go to the emergency room and TNA will pick up the tab and pay all his medical expenses. Wait until Konnan gets wind of this. That was one of his major complaint in his racism lawsuit against TNA. I hope that Petey comes back soon. He really is a superb talent. The match will be on this weeks impact.
This is exactly what I was talking about last week. I got some emails and read articles and columns praising TNA for being "stiff". Well sure it's all great for the fan. But what about the wrestlers. Sure they know what they're doing, but is it really unfair to ask them to work so stiff that they are injuring each other. All they are doing is shortening each other's careers. Look at Mick Foley, one of my personal idols. His career in the ring was over when he was in his early 30's. All because of his high risk wrestling style. Then you have Ric Flair that wrestled long into his 50's. Ric lasted so long because he was a smart wrestler. He didn't take the high risks because he didn't have to. Granted Mick didn't have to either, but since he did, he sacrificed a lot of years inside the ring. So take it for what it's worth, but working stiff every night is not the way to last in the wrestling business.
Finally I should probably talk about Mike Adamle. I was really excited last week when he walked off during the show last week. Then when he came out on Raw and took JR's spot for a match I got more excited. How many ring announcers have you ever heard get booed like that. Or at least an announcer that has never wrestled. I wanted him to come out on ECW and tell the whole world to go to hell. That could have been a hell of a storyline. Now we are just stuck with a so-so announcer that just knows he sucks. It just would have been so much better if you had an announcer that sucks, but thinks he's great. I think they really shot themselves in the foot and missed out on a great opportunity.
Well, that's it for this issue. Feel free to drop a line with any comments, bitches, and questions.
Until next time, Stay cool.
