Well, another day closer to WrestleMania. I'm getting so excited. I'm actually looking forward to this years WrestleMania. There is a lot going on with both the WWE and TNA. So lets just jump right in.
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. WTF, man??? Your at the top of your game. Getting the best push of your life. In my opinion, one of the best candidates to win the money in the bank match. But then you have to go and fail a piss test. Granted this is only speculation on my part, but I'm guessing it was pain killers that he didn't have a prescription for. The reason I say that is looking at Jeff's body, I really don't think it was steroids. Couldn't be pot, because you don't get suspended in the WWE for weed. So I'm guessing it was pain killers. But it really doesn't matter what it was. He still screwed up, plain and simple. As much as I am disappointed in Jeff, my heart goes out to him and his girlfriend Beth. (I don't think they are married, but I could be wrong)
Not only did they have to deal with Jeff being suspended for 60 days, but as everyone knows by now, their house and all their possessions burned to the ground. And to top it all off they lost their dog, and family member, Jack. I know my 2 dogs are my first 2 kids. They are that important in my family and millions of families around the world. Matt has happily brought both Jeff and Beth into his home. I also hope that what I have read is incorrect. That is Jeff did not have any home owners insurance. If that is true then it is a complete loss. I hope the best for you Jeff. And I know this probably sounds terrible, but maybe the 60 days off is for the best so you can take care of your personal business. Sometimes things really do happen for a reason.
It seems like even though there isn't a lot of talk about wrestlers crossing over to the MMA world, but there is some. We all know about Brock Lesnar's UFC debut. Granted he got caught in an arm bar and lost. But he really beat the crap out of Frank Mir. Mir beat Lesnar with experience and pure MMA knowledge. Physically Lesnar really completely dominated Mir. His next fight is scheduled for August against UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Mark Coleman. Now there is all kinds of rumors about Bobby Lashley stepping into the MMA world. We won't find out officially until his no-compete clause is up in his contract. Which will be in May. And we all know that Kurt Angle has been running his mouth a long time about having a MMA match. He even mentioned on Between the Ropes that he and Samoa Joe were planning a MMA style of match for their upcoming title fight at Lockdown. Angle then went on to say that he and Randy Couture have agreed on a fight later this year. He also claims that UFC president, Dana White, has offered him a "Big Money Contract". All of this sounds great, but apparently I'm not the only one who thinks Kurt angle is full of shit. UFC star and former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell weighed in on the subject. Liddell say that Kurt Angle is "living in a dream world". He goes on to say "He talks about it all the time, but he hasn’t made any movements towards doing it, to my knowledge he hasn’t done any training or cross-training. If he’s just gonna come in and wrestle, he’s going to get beat, you can’t just be a one-dimensional fighter in The UFC." So take it for what you want, but I think that Angle just has a big mouth and can't resist the urge to use it.
And speaking of Angle and TNA in general. Well TNA may be in a little trouble. At least if Konnan has anything to do with it. That's right, last week Konnan dropped a bombshell on TNA in the form of a racial discrimination lawsuit. He may have some pretty good points. He mentions promises by TNA to help pay for both his hip replacement surgery and Ron Killing last surgery. Both of which TNA didn't help with a dime. But they bent over backwards to help Scott Steiner when he was injured oversees, including helping pay for his surgery. Konnan even mentions very specific people including Jeff Jarrett, Terry Taylor, Dutch Mantel, and Vince Russo. Even the 2002 discrimination lawsuit against WCW was brought up. Just to show that Vince Russo has a long history of racism. And then to throw salt onto the wound Konnan talked in detail about the drug usage among the TNA "higher ups". Konnan did state that he would settle out of court and if it goes to court it will definitely get "Messy". TNA has 30 days to respond. I am very curious to see how this turns out.
I wanted to talk a little about the Hall of Fame Ceremony the day before Wrestle mania. I think it's great. I know my mentor in Wrestling school is in the Cauliflower Alley club and in the pro wrestling hall of fame, but will probably never get into the WWE Hall of fame. Probably because Tito worked for Vince Sr. and retired from active wrestling in the 60's. But anyway, that's not what I wanted to talk about. My main thing is with TNA. I know that sounds weird. But the reason I brought it up is because apparently some of TNA's roster bought tickets out of their own pocket to go to the HOF ceremony. For the main reason of seeing Ric Flair's induction . A lot of TNA wrestlers are friends with Ric, plus he has earned the respect of every wrestler that has ever stepped foot into a wrestling ring. But now TNA and especially Jeff Jarrett is asking their talent not to attend the HOF ceremony. Claiming it would be bad for business. I think Jarrett is full of crap. The Hall of Fame is about respect not about your company. Jarrett should be first in line showing respect to Ric Flair and all the other inductees.
I just recently saw the Jake the Snake DVD "Pick you Poison". If you get a chance watch it. I highly encourage it. I grew up watching wrestling when Jake was in his prime. I loved watching him every week. I remember him bringing Andre the Giant down to size with his snake. Fighting the Undertaker at WrestleMania. I had a lot of great memories of Jake. Then I saw the movie "Beyond the Mat". Which made Jake out to be a complete loser and waste of breath. He looked like a piece of crap as a father and a human being. That movie really struck me. I remember thinking about how I admired this man for what he had done. But according to this movie I had wasted a lot of years admiring a man who didn't deserve admiration. Well, after watching the "Pick your Poison" DVD I feel that I have been redeemed in my belief of Jake. I truly feel bad that a 20 minute spot in a movie about someone would change my opinion of them. Especially without knowing first hand. Sure Jake had demons and wasn't the best guy all the time. But life has given him some tough challenges and Jake has come out of it. Now he is battling the biggest opponent in his life...Himself. Jake has always had a monkey on his back with drugs and alcohol. Now, hopefully rehab will help. He is in the same rehab as Scott Hall. Both of whom are supposed to be in attendance at the Hall of fame ceremony. I hope soon we will see Jake on the stage instead of in the audience.
One last thing before I go. I want to give a special shout out to Mary Chamberlain. You all are probably going," Who the hell is she?". Well, Mary is a 66 year old woman who just became a great grandmother for the second time last week. But the day before her second great grand child was born she stopped a robber who had held up a Kentucky fried chicken with a knife. She saw a man running from KFC and chased him. First in her car and then on foot. She caught up to the robber and told him that he wasn't going anyplace. She then put her hand around his neck and like she had seen on wrestling she tried to put him in a chicken wing. She said ," It sure looks a lot easier on TV". The robber pushed her down, but didn't hurt her. The police apprehended the criminal and all ended well. My wife saw this on the news and shared it with me. It happened here in Portland Oregon. I really liked this story and just wanted to share it with all of you.
