Tenille Dashwood, the former WWE star known as Emma, today revealed that she suffers from Psoriasis, a skin condition that there is no cure for. The chronic disease producers extra skin cells which form scales and red patches all over the body.
“I’ve fought this condition since I was 14 years old luckily having times that were much more manageable, however I have currently been battling the worst flare up to date,” Dashwood wrote in a letter on Twitter.
She said that she was recently sick which triggered the condition to come back and it’s been extremely itchy, painful, and burning. Dashwood noted that she has been trying to hide her condition but now she ended up in hospital and had to pull from the ROH UK tour to take care of herself.
Dashwood decided to reveal the condition because social media only tends to highlight the glamorous side of her life but it was important for her to share a dose of reality.
“For years growing up I was ashamed, embarrassed and depressed over my appearance. My greatest fear was that I would never achieve my dream of becoming a professional wrestler and working with the WWE,” the Australian-born said. “Today, I stand here as a strong, confident, and successful woman that has achieved those impossible dreams and knows that appearance does not change who we are and what we can become.”
