Humble in defeat, Punk earns the respect of a few fellow fighters

CM Punk might have lost big time last night at UFC 203 but his post-fight interview and courage got him a lot of points from fellow fighters who commented on social media. Mickey Gall appeared arrogant and cocky, using a lot of profanity in his interview while Punk was humble and and gracious in defeat, telling everyone he will be back.

Daniel Cormier, a big wrestling fan himself, wrote that CM Punk showed a lot of heart while calling his opponent Mickey Gall “the real deal.” Eddie Alvarez also said that he respects his courage to even step in the Octagon but “there’s a reason for armatures, pros, etc…” and said everyone’s gotta go through the process.

Mentioning the post-fight interview, Corey Anderson said that Punk earned more respect in defeat than Micky Gall did in victory, while Rashad Evans also applauded Punk’s post-fight speed and said, “I’m a fan!” Erik Jon Koch had the same feeling, saying he respected Punk more than anyone. “Dude has the biggest balls ever,” he wrote.

Heavyweight Roy Nelson gave congratulations to both and said that you win some and lose some while former champ Jon Jones had the dig of the night. “I wanna see Bieber fight next,” he wrote.
