Former USWA/WWE wrestler Rex King passes away

Timothy Smith, better known to wrestling fans as Rex King and Timothy Well of the Well Dunn tag team passed away at age 55. Smith passed away from kidney failure at his home in Kentucky on January 9.

Smith made his debut in 1987 and started his career at the Pacific Northwest Wrestling. In 1990 he moved to the USWA and then in 1993 he joined the WWE with his tag team partner Steven Dunn where together they formed the Well Dunn team. Their time in the WWE didn’t last long and the duo left in 1995.

He retired in 2001 due to injuries and last year, his name was part of the class action lawsuit against WWE which was filed by attorney Konstantine Kyros.

A GoFundMe.com campaign was set up by his mother to cover the costs of the funeral. The original goal was $2,500 and that was easily surpassed when WWE Superstar Chris Jericho donated the whole sum yesterday, writing, “Rex was a good guy who was always good to me! Hopefully he has found peace and is with the Lord now.”

The goal was now raised to $15,000 without explanation.
