Dwayne Johnson to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been announced as part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2017 and will be getting his star on the world-famous street in Hollywood.

The former WWE champion is getting honored for his motion pictures work along with Amy Adams, Jason Bateman, Goldie Hawn, Chris Pratt, Brett Ratner, Ryan Reynolds, George A. Romero, Mark Ruffalo and Rita Wilson. The official date of the ceremony was not revealed apart from the news that it will happen sometime in 2017.

Having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is not cheap. Whoever nominates the artist has to pay $30,000 if he or she is selected. Half that amount goes to constructing the sidewalk star. The other half goes to its upkeep.

The Rock will be the second WWE personality to have a star. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon got his in March 2008.
