Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosted the Christmas in Washington concert which aired last night on TNT but was taped last week with President Barack Obama and his family sitting in front row.
“See over the years I’ve always felt this unspoken bond between myself and our Commander-In-Chief. We are both charismatic, intelligent, really good looking boys from Hawaii,” Rock said, as he got a thumbs up from the President and a chuckle from the crowd.
“One of us became an International symbol of American pride and more importantly, hope. The other became President of the United States,” the former WWE champ said in his opening monologue.
“Give it up for Santa’s biggest, baddest elf, our host The Rock!,” the President said later as the show was concluding.
The concert was held at the National Building Museum with performances by Rita Ora, Darius Rucker, Hunter Hayes, Christina Perri and Aloe Blacc. It was the last Christmas in Washington special that TNT was airing after 33 years.
