Day 9 of Hogan vs Gawker trial comes to an end early

There’s some light at the end of the tunnel for jurors and reporters at the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker trial as closing arguments are hinted for tomorrow which means Hogan’s team had an extra day to present their case while the defense wrapped up in four.

The actual sex tape will not be shown in the courtroom however the jurors are free to watch it during their deliberations which can last from a few hours, to a few days.

At the start of day 9, judge Pamela Campbell informed the jury that Bubba “The Love Sponge” will not be testifying in front of them however the defense will show a deposition with Hulk which was recorded back in March 2014. The video showed Hogan in thong riding a wrecking ball in a commercial parody of Miley Cyrus’ music video. Hogan said that it was a bit embarrassing but there were only 3 people in the room. The commercial was for Hostamania.com. More video from other depositions were shown but the case wrapped up earlier than usual today and the jury was dismissed.

After the jurors left, the attorneys for both sides argued over the inclusion of the new evidence as well as the live stream of the trial from Gawker which had ads on it. Hogan’s team filed a motion for the judge to check the live streaming, a motion which was accepted. The live stream on Gawker’s website stopped working after the testimony of Mia Libby, the Senior Vice President of Sales for the company, who kept saying that Gawker didn’t make money from Hogan’s sex tape since there were no ads running. Now Hogan’s legal team are claiming that the feed was stopped intentionally following Libby’s testimony, a testimony which included a reply from Libby that said that she thinks there there were no ads on Gawker’s live feed of the trial.
