Buddy Landel passes away

William Ansor, better known to old-time wrestling fans as Nature Boy Buddy Landel, passed away today at the age of 52, two months away from his 53rd birthday.

While exact details are not available, apparently Landel was involved in a car accident and checked himself out from the hospital and went back home. His wife found him dead after he went to sleep.

Landel made his professional wrestling debut in 1979 in the Tennessee area and then moved to the NWA in 1985. Landel was supposed to take the NWA title from Ric Flair however he arrived late at a television taping and was fired from the company afterward. He then moved back to Tennessee and wrestled with Jerry Lawler in the USWA.

Landel wrestled again for the NWA in the early 90s, as well as Smokey Mountain Wrestling and shortly in the WWF as well in 1995-1996.

He held numerous titled throughout his wrestling career including reigns in WWC, USA Wrestling, USWA, SMW, NWA, and others.
