British indie promotion offers CM Punk $1 million for in-ring return

British independent promotion 5 Star Wrestling is offering $1 million to CM Punk to return to the ring and be part of the 128-man tournament that will begin on June 10 in Liverpool.

Daniel Hinkles, the owner of the promotion, told The Sun tabloid newspaper in the UK that this is a genuine offer and they want to do this tournament with him in it. “We’ve been trying to contact CM Punk on and off for well over a year. We wanted him on the first show we did in Edinburgh in 2015. I’ve tried going through friends in the industry, I’ve gone through his website and sent dozens of emails but the opportunity has never been this big,” Hinkles said.

Hinkles added that if Punk ever decides to come back to professional wrestling, it will be one of those epic moments in history, and he wants that moment to be with 5 Star Wrestling in the United Kingdom.

“A common saying in the wrestling world is that the UK has the best fans, well how about we give them the biggest moments too. We are hugely ambitious. When we ask the fans who they want to see, CM Punk’s name is on everybody’s wish list and we’re willing to spend big to make it happen,” Hinkles said.

The former WWE champion has yet to respond to the offer and Hinkles hopes that $1 million is enough to make him think about it.

Punk is now focusing on mixed martial arts and so far has only one fight under his belt, a quick loss to Mickey Gall under the UFC banner.
