Linda McMahon considering Senate run in Connecticut

Postby newswire on 08-14-2009 12:44 PM

Washington Post political blogger Chris Cillizza who runs "The Fix" blog on the popular website wrote in his morning report that WWE Chief Executive Officer Linda McMahon is considering running for Senate under the Republican banner to battle Sen. Chris Dodd in Connecticut next year.

According to Cillizza, a source close to McMahon said that she is "seriously considering" the race and also said that she has the means and money to run a successful primary race against former representative Rob Simmons, former ambassador Tom Foley and state Sen. Sam Caliguri.

"One thing is certain: a McMahon candidacy would turn what is already a fascinating race into a contest with a huge national profile," wrote Cillizza.

I think that she would do a great job. She is a great business person and a republican and a good choice. I would vote for her if I was from NY and I have no idea what she would do for the state.

She is great to the WWE, I think she would be just as great to CONN. All the people got to get past the fact that she is part of "wrestling".

I don't know anything about the politics in Connecticut or her policies but from what I have seen from her before in the WWE and the way she handles situations I think she has the right mind set to do it and might make a pretty solid politician.

She is probably not happy with the way our Senate is run. I hope that she wins and there are more Republican's that win. Something needs to be done to stop the abuse to the American citizens in a quick fashion. Changes need to be debated in Congress before action is taken. Maybe instead of "No More Bush", there will be "No more Obama."

I think she's gonna crash and burn on this one and next year we'll have her as WWE CEO again.

There's too many stuff against her being a former WWE CEO.

You are right though editor, the WWE does carry a lot of baggage with it. However, I do think they have cleaned up a lot the past couple years.
