 ► ABOUT US

Although under a different name and web address, Wrestling-Online has been on the Internet since July of 1996. The journey started as a simple 'WWF' website with basic information and pictures until November 1996 when the site moved more towards being a multimedia download center. For a whole year the site generated millions of viewers thanks to the vast choice of available downloads which included video clips, sound bytes, pictures and other multimedia files all related to professional wrestling.

In January of 1998 Wrestling-Online.com was born. A series of threatening lawsuits from both World Wrestling Federation Inc., and World Championship Wrestling for the use of unauthorized multimedia on the website forced the change to news and information only, leaving out the major part of the site - multimedia - out once and for all. In late 2001 all legal trouble with World Wrestling Federation Inc. were ended after an agreement while legal disputes with World Championship Wrestling ended a year earlier. As of now, the primary force behind the website is news.

ABOUT THE WRESTLING-ONLINE NEWSLETTER

In September of 1996 the WWF Online Newsletter was created. A weekly newsletter - sent on Sundays - was sent to those who subscribed via an online form on the website. The first issue was sent on September 22nd to a total number of 11 subscribers. In February of 1997 the newsletter was changed to be delivered twice a week - on Wednesdays and Sundays - and in March of 1998 the name was officially changed to Wrestling-Online Newsletter.

June 2000 was a big month for the newsletter as probably the most recognized wrestling newsletter of the time - The Bagpipe Report (TBR) - merged with the W-O Newsletter, with the Wrestling-Online team gaining total control over the subscribers and future content. Then in January of 2001, we acquired the Hardcore Review Newsletter, though a smaller name than The Bagpipe Report, it still had a good following that the W-O Newsletter benefited from. Just like the deal with TBR, we had total control over their subscribers and future mailings.

To this day, the Wrestling-Online Newsletter has over 25,000 subscribers worldwide and is the largest and longest running wrestling newsletter on the Internet today.
